What’s a mid-century lamp collection without a few Oriental delights?

Looking Up?

Found this ceiling light cover in a thrift shop in Pittsburgh for 99 cents. Just put it up in the foyer and I love it. Very few folks will notice it, I’m sure, but it tickles me every time I see it.

Striped Base

One of my favorite lamps. Green and gold stripes on ceramic base with a gold painted bottom on three hairpin legs.  The shade currently on this lamp is solid chartreuse fiberglass (double-shaded).

This one is on my current office desk, at another job. The lamp itself isn’t really mid-century (it’s just a stick lamp from Ikea), but the shade is authentic 1950s. Again, folks stop to comment and have no idea this isn’t the only mid-century lamp or shade I own.

The Office

This lamp was in my office for a few years. Folks would stop by and comment on how much they liked it. They thought it was the only one of its kind I own.

Is $12 OK?

Purchased separately in an antique mall in Fredericksburg. The lamp had a sticker on it that said $10. The shopkeeper wasn’t in, so the cashier asked if I’d pay $12 for the shade. Hmm… ya think?

About Me

It started with one white lamp found in Arlington shortly after we were married. Then we bought a green fiberglass shade for it and carried that on the train from New Orleans. Now it's more of an obsession.
